A quick Google search tells us that a paradigm is "a fundamental idea about reality, frequently unquestioned and difficult to change, that conditions all our thinking about and even our physical perceptions of the world or some aspect of experience."
Each of us has a paradigm or a way of thinking about a particular topic - pick any topic.
That paradigm is formed by a variety of influences from our social, economical, religious, and other experiences.
This paradigm seems solid, right, I mean, I experience things and learn from those experiences and that forms my paradigm.
The obstacle is that I am limited by my own experiences.
One of our greatest gifts is the ability to communicate. I
t is through communication that we can learn about different experiences, perspectives, and insights on topics.
When we allow new information to enter our minds we can often experience a paradigm shift as we start thinking of this topic in a new way.
Once we start to allow exposure to new paradigms in an open and empathetic way, we can see more.
Like putting on a new pair of glasses where you can see further, closer, and clearer.
Try on a new pair of glasses and see beyond your limited experiences on a topic today, then take the time to think about other areas where you may have limited your own beliefs.
